HDSA MN State Conference

The 9th Annual Minnesota State Conference on Huntington's Disease will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Calvary Lutheran Church Conference Center in Golden Valley. The theme for this year's 9th Annual State Conference on HD is "Living Well with HD".

The conference will focus mainly on interactive breakout sessions, but will include two speakers, Carl Johnson (Executive Director for Science for the Hereditary Disease Foundation) and Bill Kaemmerer (Senior Principal Scientist and Bakken Fellow at Medtronic Neuromodulation), who will provide an update on HD research and prospects for future treatments. For a full schedule of events, speakers, and activities, check out the "Living Well with HD" brochure.

Last year, the State HDSA Conference was also held in October at Calvary Lutheran Church Conference Center. We celebrated hope and our keynote speaker was Jang-Ho Cha, MD, PhD from Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND). Dr. Cha's lab first described mRNA alterations in transgenic HD mice, leading to the hypothesis that a key aspect of Huntington's disease is that the expanded huntingtin protein adversly changes in how other genes are used in the brain.

This year, there will be no registration fee to attend this year's Conference, provided that you pre-register. You can pre-register at hdsa.org/events.
