The Blast!
Dinner
The HDSA Blast dinner is
held each February. At this celebration, we honor
our community's leaders, including HD Family of the
Year, HD Person of the Year, HD Caregiver of the Year
and more. The evening's silent and live auctions also raises money to support our HDSA Center
of Excellence at HCMC. This event is always a Blast! We look forward to seeing you there on February 27,

Hoop-a-thon
Hoop-a-thon is a fun-filled free throw
basketball event benefiting the Huntington's Disease
Society of America. Participants shoot free throws for
five minutes, trying to sink as many baskets as they
can. Sponsors pledge a specific amount of money for
every basket the sponsored shooter sinks. Flat pledges
are also welcome with the participant shooting for fun
and prizes.
The Twin Cities Hoop-A-Thon is not only a basketball
event, but has activities and games for everyone of all
ages and abilities. Hoop-a-thon also features a silent auction, raffles, cake walk,
putt putt contests, Nintendo
Wii and guitar hero
contests, special appearances, and food/refreshments
provided by our sponsors.

18, 2010 from 1-5 pm at Eastview High School in

ADE for HD
The annual ADE
for HD Auction, Dinner and Entertainment for
Huntington’s Disease is held
each April at the New Prague
Knights of Columbus Hall. This
year's theme was "Let's
Beach Huntington's Disease". This
event includes dinner, silent auction, entertainment and
raffle, and is great for small town fun and down home
cookin'. More information coming soon!
Hunt for the Cure
This year's paintball
fundraising event was held Sunday, May 3, 2009 at
Splat Tag Paintball Field in
Hudson, Wisconsin. This
"non-traditional" fundraising event is fun for all
ages. You can come to play or just watch. Check out

Hits
for HD
The Hits for
Huntington's
Golf Classic
was held on Monday,
July 27, 2009
at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. Thank
you to all of this year's participants and donors! This
event is open to anyone who likes to golf. Bring your
friends and we'll see you next July!
Run 2 Rid HD
This 5K
event was held at Hidden Falls Park in St. Paul
on Saturday, September 12, 2009,
and is held each year. Participants
can walk, jog or run. This event is fun for the
whole family and is good for your body too!
HDSA State
Conference on HD
The 2009 State
HDSA Conference was held on Saturday, October 3, 2009
in Golden Valley MN. This year we celebrated
Hope and our keynote speaker was Jang-Ho Cha,
MD, PhD from Mass General Institute for
Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND). Dr. Cha
has been investigating neurotransmitter receptor
alteration in transgenic mouse models of
Huntington's disease. Dr. Cha’s lab first described
mRNA alterations in transgenic HD mice, leading to
the hypothesis that transcriptional dysregulation is
a central mechanism in HD. (Did
you get all that?)
This year we learned
about the fascinating things happening in the world
of HD research and much, much more. Be sure to
join us next year on October 2, 2010 for another
amazing day!
First
Annual Holiday Soiree
In November, we
hosted our very first wine tasting event, The Holiday
Soiree, which featured wines from France paired with
fabulous cheeses and a chocolate extravaganza! It
took place at Shorewood Yacht Club in Shorewood, MN, November
13th, from 7-9 pm. The first 100 attendees received a complimentary etched wine
glass!
